The Beginning
As long as I can remember, I have wanted to breed cats.
In 1975 my two daughters were young and I was selling real
estate. I made a feeble attempt to breed Abyssinians. It was
a real disaster! My girls would let the cats out and they
would get bred by the local tom. Needless to say, that breeding
program did not last long!
In 1982 we moved to the San Jacinto Mountains and started
breeding Quarter horses. We would have four or five foals
per year, and I learned to do a lot of the vet work. Our riding
trails are wonderful and we had many boarders in the summer
months.
Life
was great, but I still wanted to breed cats. I went to the
pound each spring to get a litter of kittens. I would take
the sick ones, as it was a challenge to help them get well.
Because I was involved with animal people, finding good homes
was not a problem.
By 1998 I was ready to retire from so much hard work. Over
a two year period we sold off all the breeding stock. During
that time, I was going to cat shows and studying the different
breeds. The American Shorthair became the cat for me!

King of Hearts is certified as a “ Cattery of Excellence”
by the Cat Fanciers Association. This guarantees you a healthy
and safe environment in which your cat was raised. Our kittens
are raised in the house, under foot, with a Golden Retriever.
At about seven weeks they have complete run of the house.
Kittens are placed at approximately twelve weeks of age, depending
on individual development. Adults are occasionally available
and are placed on completion of their show/breeding careers.
